August 3:      #306 How to Start a Fall Vegetable Garden

Demystify the art of the fall and winter veggie garden. We will cover all the basics you need to know as well as a variety of techniques to extend your harvest until Spring! Taught by Permaculturist/gardener Nick Snyder

Sept. 21:       #304 New to the PNW?

 New to Bainbridge and want to learn about gardening in the PNW? This is your class. Topics include, NW soils and climate, projects for each season, PNW natives to grow and invasives to avoid. Taught by Master Gardener Linda Treffinger.

October 19:     #305 Mason Bees

A review of the Orchard Mason Bee lifestyle, the importance of harvesting cocoons, and a demonstration of how to remove, (harvest) and recondition each of the three types of OMB nesting materials and how to store the bees. Taught by Carrie Morlang, owner of Knox Cellars Orchard Mason Bees.

January 11 2025:   #301 Fruit trees pruning

A primer of pruning practices on fruit trees to increase yields, improve health and create beautiful trees.  Taught by Arborist and Orchardist Nick Snyder.

February 3:     # 206 Restore an old apple tree

Do you have an old apple tree in your yard that need help and some serious pruning? This class is a hands on, actual pruning class, done on a old apple tree at Bay Hay and Feed. Please come with rain clothing and be prepared to be outside. Taught by Arborist Nick Snyder.

February 10:     # 201 Everything About Bees

Introduction to bees, covering different types of bees and how they live and how you can support them, plus a small introduction to Bee keeping (including mason and orchard bees!). Taught by Bee expert Charles Schafer.

February 17:      # 202 Fruit Trees and Berries

De-mystifying the art and science of proper fruit tree and berry care.  Planting, pruning, training, disease/pest care and prevention, varieties selection and more.  Maximize the beauty and harvest from your fruit trees and berries! Taught by Arborist and Orchardist Nick Snyder.

February 24:    #203 How to Start a Vegetable Garden

Establishing a veggie garden is the investment that pays you back every day, whether its raised beds, in-ground beds, or the pots on your porch, setting out on the right foot will help ensure success. Soil prep, fertility, bed layout, irrigation, crop selection, and bed rotation will all be covered! Taught by Permaculturist/gardener Nick Snyder.

March 2:           #204 Everything About Chickens

Basic care from baby chicks to adult Chickens. How to take care of them and what to feed them and solutions for shelters, predators, diseases and pests! Taught by farmer Nick Snyder.

March 9:         #205 New to the PNW?

March 23: #207 Grafting class

"The Bainbridge Island Fruit Club (BIFC) will be providing a hands-on class on grafting fruit trees.  The class will cover the many benefits of and techniques for grafting apples, pears, and stone fruit as well as provide rootstock and scion wood for attendees to graft their own semi-dwarf tree." Material Fee $5. This class is 2 hours long.

Classes are $15, paid in advance.
