Our Honey Bees at Bay Hay and Feed.

In 2014 we decided to start a bee hive. Charles Schaeffer helped up get started. We purchased bees from Stedman Bee Supplies in Silverdale. The bees come in a box with the Queen  in a tiny box by herself. You take the tiny box out and remove the cork and put in a tiny marshmallow and then you attach the tiny box to a screen in the hive and then you shake the rest of the bees in the hive. After a few days the bees will have eaten through the marshmallow to release the queen. In the mean time you feed the bees sugar water. Once a week you check to see if the queen is laying eggs and if the hive is healthy. After about 4 -5 months we had lots of honey!  You can see the pictures down below to see the procedure.
